Case Introduction

Shanghai Culture infused the new campus of Dongzhou Middle School with a unique spatial narrative: the design team used "Continuing the Struggle, New Students of the Academy" as the guiding principle.

Transforming the 133-year-old academy's cultural heritage and the revolutionary spirit of the "Three Tans" into a visual spatial language—the "Dongzhou Cultural Heritage" themed wall in the teaching building lobby uses a layered and staggered visual composition to allow history to unfold slowly like a scroll.

The corridor and reading corner extract Lingnan elements such as blue bricks and gray tiles and wok-shaped gable walls, and reconstruct the contemporary artistic conception of the "academy courtyard" with modern materials;

The standard backpack storage system in the classrooms is both a functional module and an extension of the aesthetics of order, while the 8-person dormitories create a "home-like" atmosphere with warm lighting and spaciousness. Every detail tells us that this is not only a place for learning, but also a cultural carrier that can be read and felt, allowing the century-old academy to radiate contemporary vitality on new land.
