Shanghai Culture Planning was honored to plan, design, and implement the core cultural corridor project for Heyuan Vocational and Technical College. Facing this higher education institution rooted in the local community and serving industry, our task was not only to create a display channel, but also to build a "three-dimensional school history museum" and "cultural living room" that could embody the school's spirit, highlight regional characteristics, and resonate with teachers and students.
We delved into the college's motto of "Virtue, Skill, Striving, and Dedication" and the regional cultural heritage of Heyuan, known as "Ancient Hakka City, Evergreen River Source," and proposed the design theme of "Cultural Heritage, Craftsmanship, and New Beginning." The entire corridor uses the flow of time and the inheritance of skills as implicit threads, employing five narrative sections—**Historical Origins Area, Professional Characteristics Area, Faculty Role Model Area, Student Achievements Area, and Future Outlook Area**—to systematically and artistically translate and present the college's rich history, distinctive vocational education characteristics, outstanding achievements of teachers and students, and promising development blueprint.
In the design, we comprehensively utilized various techniques, including modern exhibition design, digital multimedia interaction, and local material art installations. For example, we abstracted Hakka architectural elements into spatial forms, and used interactive screens to dynamically demonstrate advanced manufacturing and other professional training scenarios, creating a communication corner that combines a sense of ceremony with openness. Ultimately, this corridor transcends the traditional graphic display model, becoming an immersive cultural experience space that can be walked through, perceived, and interacted with, vividly interpreting the college's educational philosophy of "industry-education integration and the unity of knowledge and practice," and becoming a core landmark for campus cultural education and image display.
This project represents another important practice by Shanghai Culture in utilizing its systematic cultural curatorial capabilities to create distinctive cultural spaces for higher education institutions.
